Four easy steps!
1) Loosen black handles and set your desired bevel angle using the precise, laser engraved index marks. Tighten handles.
2) Place the guide over your sharpening stone.
3) Insert blade, push alignment "slide" up against the side of the blade to ensure a square edge.
4) Tighten brass toggle foot clamp to secure blade and away you go!
The front wheels are able to move up and down about .010", allowing for continued blade contact with the stone as blade material is removed by the honing process.
