Float Glass- This type of premium glass is produced by "floating" molten glass on a pool of molten tin. The result of this technique, upon cooling, is a plate of glass with very smooth, parallel, top and bottom surfaces. Perfect for use with the "scary sharp" technique as a "surface plate" for honing the finest of edges. Use inexpensive abrasive paper, (adhesive backed silicon carbide works best), in the many grits available. Use dry or with just a little water as your lubricant. Throw the paper out when worn, put down a new piece and continue! Their long length, along with our Sharpening Sled, makes for quick work of any sharpening task! Long enough to true the soles of most handplanes as well. All edges are "seamed" or beveled for safety.
Both sizes we sell are .25 in. thick for use with our model #SS3 Sharpening Sled.
FG-3.25, 3 in. X 11.5 in. $14.99
